Hello Lacy

Meet Lacy, yeah for some reason my house has a been a dog magnet lately. Something I can't quite figure out. I mean do I just scream "Dog" when people see me?

Actually its more people screaming "DOG" at me, verses the other way around.

But anyway some friends at our church asked me to baby sit Lacy for the weekend. She is about 5 years old, and is a retired breeder. After Zipper my dogs were a little unsure of this new intruder, but she's soon proven herself to be extremely different. She much prefers to rest on top of the couch and survey the other dogs from that position.

She'd much prefer to sit your lap then run around the yard. So she's been a good little house guest thus far. But I'll still be glad when I can go back to my three dog household. Who knew caring for three dogs was so much easier. :))

PS: Does anyone know of any type of solution to help neutralize those dark patches on her eyes? Her owners have been wondering what will work!?
{Checking out the yard}
{No he's not about to hit her with the stick, he just didn't expect her to jump in his lap.]
{Lap or Play....Lap wins! No matter how small :)}
{I KNOWED dare was treats up dare.}

Texas Log #1

Texas Ranger Log - 1.1 (cause diary's are for sissy's. uh......no offense)

Weather: Rain
Mood: Sleepy
Location: Mom's Bed
Life: Is Good.

Breakfast was on time this morning..even if mom rushed us out of bed, and out into the rain. NOTE TO SELF: Be sure and let mom know this is not acceptable, and that we need some sort of covered "pee spot" for these types of situations. Anyway pretty much kept watch over the house and napped here and there. Bubbles was a usual no help, and hogged all the good spots in the house; left me with all the work. Mom left some bread crumbs in the trash for me, so I dove in and found those and some other tasty things. I had to move the garbage to a better chew spot, which was the living room of course. Once that was done, I went back to my window watching vigil. I think I must of dozed off cause when I woke up there was a car in my drive way! I sounded the alarm before realizing it was MOM! WooF! Finally cause i really had to pee!! Mom let me outside than let out a very strange screamygrowl type sound...sure gave me a fright for a second, than I realized I forgot to clean up my mess. Oops! Well Pompei helped too cause he forgot to hold his pee in. So its mostly his mess. So we just ran outside to play. Ok so mom wasn't too happy and took a lot of time moving stuff and spraying stuff, and picking up stuff. It was tiring watching her, so I laid down for another nap.

And I think I hear dinner getting ready GOTTA GO!

December 11: The Million Dollar Question

As a Puppy Walker, the statistics for our dogs making it is only 50%; Guiding is a hard job, and the dogs need to be mentally and physically able to handle the challenges that will be presented to them. So I am always prepared for the worst, and hope for the best!

While I feel Midnight is a great dog, very confident and willing to please, you never know....so until she graduates, I always wonder, what I would do if she WAS career changed.

I just adopted Texas, so that would bring my pet count up to 3, plus a guide dog puppy.....
Then add everyday things such as, school and work into the mix....as well as finding a place for them when we traveled....its not cheap. Unless I just (once again) work at ANOTHER doggie daycare/kennel. Which might not work since GDF is very hard to get to spay/neuter one of the dogs...and that is always an issue with daycare's.

Wow, it would defiantly be a lot of work...but as of now I don't have to make that decision, so we'lll just put it on the back burner for now.

In the meantime ....

We made a mistake; Texas is NOT a standard dachsund! He's a minature!!
It says it right there on his vet records, but I guess I was focused on the fact, that I wanted to "matching" dogs, that I kind of just overlooked that as a mistake.
I forgot that his previous owners BROUGHT him to the hospital and filled out the forms BEFORE leaving him.
Silly me.
