Moms + Puppies = Disaster

I has to say, a big I AGREE to Frankie's posts about Mom's. Puppies need lots of watching regardless of how bigs they are. Like today for instance, I go off to patrol the yard, and leave Trump in Mom's care. OR.SO.I.THOUGHT. Next thing I know, she's whistling, and calling and NO TRUMP!

Well finally, after I ran around the yard a bunch.. we heard his tags jingling, and found that he'd trapped himself inside the shed...and was EATING ALL THE GARBAGES!! Do you KNOW how long it took me to get all.dat.GUNK out of his furs? FOREVER I TELL YOU!

And then he puked it all.over.the.floor. Mom said she didn't know one dog's stomach could hold so much junk!

In other news. Mom put Trump on an airplane on Monday and he went bye-bye. YEA for having mom all too me and Bubble's selves again!

*WOOFS!*

Excuse me while I grab a tissue...

The note below made every frustration, chewed item, chase scene through my neighborhood, and attacks over the last two months, worth it. As you guys have commented, sometimes trusting your "gut" pays out. And this time we've hit the pot of gold.

Our trade off went really well, we met at a Petstore in NC, and I showed Zips new mom a few things that I felt would be essential for Zipper. Then Pompei and I walked them to her car, and placed Zipper into her brand new crate, on her brand new blanket and watched them drive away.
I will admit that I felt an acute sense of relief. I know my family thinks I'm being a little over dramatic, but seriously that dog ruled the roost, my time, my energy and everything was spent working with Zipper.
Anyway I hadn't heard anything from the all day, so being the worrier I am, I emailed them to see how the first night went....

Zip seems to feel right at home! She slept with me in my bed, curled up right next to my leg and only got up once in the middle of the night to play with a squeaky toy, but then I woke a little before 6am and she was fast asleep! We went for an early morning walk, and you're right outside is her doggie heaven! Any chance she can get to go outside she LOVES it. I took her to work from 8-9 so she could meet the people I work with and she loved meeting new people, and after the initial excitement of all the newness of the office she curled up in a chair in my office and napped/watched me work. (Something that would not have happened in my house due to other dogs)I had to run out to visit people so I took her home at 9, and my sister woke up about 9:30am and took her for a 40 minute walk and then they took an afternoon nap, and then I came home for lunch and took her for a mini walk. And we just took her for an evening walk. So, I think she loves all the attention. She is playing nicely, and only chewing on her toys thus far, and she is eating and no accidents yet. She is a happy little puppy I think! Hopefully night two goes just as well!! I'll send you pictures soon!
We love her! Thank you so much!

I'm thinking this is a match made in heaven. *sniffs*

The Last Night

Tonight is Victoria's last night with me, I'll take her back to Wilderwood's Kennels tomorrow morning. I can't believe its actually happening, though with her being a teen dog there is a part of me that  is ready to move her on.

I have to admit that I really don't have time for her, and feel bad only getting her out to exercise once a day...for her its not enough, and her destructive behavior has increased, since her career change.

As Pompei will attest too...with age comes great energy.

So we'll spend one last night cuddling before we send her on her way. I know she will have a great life and be an awesome therapy dog.

I am sad, that she wasn't suited for the service dog life, but look forward to hearing about her adventures in her new life.

I'm not ready to say good-bye...

Much sooner than I'd expected, I received an email with the subject line: Victoria. I knew what it was before I clicked on it, and my heart skipped a beat. I knew she was up for adoption, but since I hadn't seen any active "advertising" of her, I subconsciously was hoping that she'd been forgotten.
Several emails and a phone call later, I set up an appointment with the potential adopter, tomorrow morning. Tonight we'll bathe and brush her down, clean her ears, clip her toe nails, brush her teeth, spray some doggie perfume on her, and try to keep her out of the mud.

I will have to resist the temptation to try and scare this person away,as I DO want Victoria to go to a good home. Just...not yet.

If this lady decides to adopt her I know that Victoria will still be with me for at least another five days.

But still its too soon.

btw...if you can't tell, no these good-byes NEVER get easier.

Dog Career's

Hey Guys,

So like the humans celebrate something called "New Years", the way I understand is like an old thing goes away and something new starts. Apparently humans think they get to "start over" or something. Well I kind of understand that.

Anyway for this New Year, Mom went away and left us in a kennel place; as Texas said in his post. I did NOT like that kennel place, I mean I had fun with my brothers and sister, playing and stuff, but all the people there was scary! And they kept wanting me to do things like "sit" or "up" and I mean I didn't even KNOW Them, how was I supposed to DO anything!?!?

So then they talked to Mom for a long time today, and was like "She doesn't have any work ethic" and Mom was like "No I don't think she'll make it" and just like that I was out of the service dog program!

And I'm actually just fine with that! I mean, going in those people places was like SUPER scary! I was so scared one time, Mom had to hold me in her lap!!! I like being at home, and hanging out with Bubbles and Texas.

So I gots to say good-bye to my career. Oh weell. Mom says they don't force dogs to do something they don't want too. Which I think is just ducky, cause i REALLY don't want to be a serve dog.

You should SEE all the toys mom bought at the store tonight!!!!!! Oh wait, I can't say anything about that just yet. Oops!

Anyway mom say's she has a hard decision to make about keeping me or something. I'm all like uh-DUH mom, that's not even a question!? I BELONG here!

Goodbye Gideon

And as is customary for my organization, it is once again time for us to trade dogs. Not something I really ever enjoy doing; but its the way things are. Gideon will be moving on to another trainer who will continue what I have started. Loose leash walking, working him in the real world doing service dog work, etc..

While its been fun having four dogs, I am ready to have some sanity back, having four dogs with different energy levels, has been interesting to say the least. I have to constantly remember to switch gears/tactics when working with all of them.

But despite our challenges I feel we've made significant progress.

Goodbye my goofy golden pal.
