FurBuster vs. FURminator

If you’re like me, anytime I am in a store that sells products…I will glance down the aisle a time or two, just out of curiosity. One of the things that always caught my eye was the Bamboo FurBuster, it looked like a FURminator, it had photos like it was a FURminator; but is it a good alternative to the FURminator?

I have used the FURminator on multiple occasions and loved it…but didn’t have the money to purchase one myself.I’d go home and Google reviews on both products but either people raved about the FURminator…or they raved about the FURminator. Thanks a lot people.

So I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the FurBuster myself. At $24.99 (give or take a few cents at your local Wal-Mart) I got it home, eagerly unwrapped it and hauled Pompei to the porch. Designed to match the shape of the FURminator, the FurBuster seems impressive with with its removable blade option, saving you the time of purchasing a whole other utensil for multiple dogs.

I have to say I was pretty disappointed with my first results. The blade is quite small and doesn’t get off much hair, in my opinion but feeling optimistic, I decided I probably didn’t remember the FURminators’ results well enough to properly gauge if this was as good. After several uses I still wasn’t getting the results I was hoping for, and decided…since I had a gift card for $60 to CSN.com…why not get a real FURminator?

I have to say, there was a big difference. In the size, weight and blade size; the medium FURminator blade was deeper than the FurBuster, thus allowing it to grab more hair father down, I also noticed the tines on the blade are wider on the FURminator as well.. A few brush strokes and I had a pile of hair on the ground next to us….All in all, I do feel the FURminator is a better purchase if you actually want to remove large amounts of hair, and I  feels as if it would hold up longer than FurBuster!

Good to know! I have always wondered if the bamboo brand was just the same as furminator or not. Not that it matters, now I have Alfie...he doesn't shed at all! But thanks for the fair unbiased product review! :)

I have one tooo. I love it when mom uses it on me. She kind of holds my skin and furs a little bit and does NOT press down. She gets tons of furs out. Mom has seen the Buster one... and she knew by looking that it was NOT what it was cracked up to be.

I love the Furminator for my Labs, but in my opinion, at over $50, it is WAY overpriced at some stores. So, my advice for anyone who is interested in buying one: shop around. A couple of years ago I bought our large (4-inch) Furminator, brand new from Ebay for $25.

Good to know! We have one of the Furbusters, but we have really short coated dogs, so I wasn't sure it would make much difference. We might have to give it a try.

Excellent review!

I believe the furminator to be an awesome tool, but PLEASE TO FOLLOW THEIR INSTRUCTIONS...

Long, steady, slow strokes are the key... otherwise, skin irritation can occur.

I LOVE the Furminator! I think I got a new large one for less than $30 bucks a few years ago. It is the only brush I ever use on my pups anymore, they seemed to enjoy it more than a regular dog brush any ways.

P.S. I fink it's important to read ALL instructions of ever manufacturer, specially when it come to the sheddin reduction tools, on a counta a dog's skin is a precious fing!

You can find them pretty cheap! A local small pet store in our town sells the large FURminator with a bottle of the spray for $26! Thanks for reminding me that I need to go buy one! Great review!

I have to agree 100% percent. I love our furminator. It is really something awesome. Once we're done brushing all three dogs with it we have enough to donate to more than a couple Chinese crested pups. You know if anyone else is looking to buy one and doesn't want to spend the $60 you can get them so much cheaper on ebay. They're new and exactly the same, the people just buy them in bulk and sell so much cheaper. I think we got our big one for like $18. Something to consider.

Great review! I purchased the Bamboo brand on the recommendation of a trainer, and I can't say I've been unhappy with the results. But I've never tried the actual Furminator, so perhaps it's time to take the plunge!
